Course Content:
Find and Recover Lost Items Underwater
In the PADI Search and Recovery course, you will learn to systematically plan an underwater search, use appropriate search patterns, and bring found objects to the surface in a controlled manner.
This is not just about finding an object. You will also train in navigation, teamwork, the correct handling of lines and lift bags, and the safe execution of a complete search operation.
What you will learn in the course
Under expert guidance, you will practice:
- evaluating information about the missing object and the search area
- planning an underwater search effectively
- selecting and adhering to suitable search patterns
- Navigating with a compass and natural landmarks
- applying important knots for recovery tasks
- controlled lifting of suitable objects with a lift bag
- conducting a realistic search and recovery operation
- maintaining buoyancy, communication, and safety during the task
Search planning, various search patterns, and the use of a lift bag are official focal points of the course. PADI provides for four training dives for this.
The practical exercises take place during four training dives in the lake. The tasks gradually become more demanding until you can plan and execute a complete simulated search operation.
